Dollar Bills
“Dollar Bills” is a playful, bluesy song that uses related metaphors explaining why you should throw me your money. I can’t remember where I was when I felt inspired to write this yet I remember the imagery in my mind very well. I saw myself playing guitar on stage (fully clothed) at a strip club. Strangely, I’ve wanted to do this for a long time (for some reason, at a nicer place) but that’s beside the point. I got to thinking, what is the difference between me and a stripper? He or she is technically selling you their “outsides” (bodies) and I’m selling you my “insides” (personal inspirations, truths). Strippers and Singer-songwriters generally really like your money, too. So you see, in my mind, there’s enough commonality for a sexy song to be created about this comparison. If I’m lucky, a song that moves people enough to move– both their bodies and their dollar bills– into my tip jar
Remember that rare gem, Ruth Brown? She takes it to another level in “If I can’t sell it, I’ll sit on it”… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPll4sQDssU
