Dollar Bills

“Dollar Bills” is a playful, bluesy song that uses related metaphors explaining why you should throw me your money. I can’t remember where I was when I felt inspired to write this yet I remember the imagery in my mind very well. I  saw myself playing guitar on stage (fully clothed) at a strip club. Strangely, I’ve wanted to do this for a long time (for some reason, at a nicer place) but that’s beside the point. I got to thinking, what is the difference between me and a stripper? He or she is technically selling you their “outsides” (bodies) and I’m selling you my “insides” (personal inspirations, truths). Strippers and Singer-songwriters generally really like your money, too.  So you see, in my mind, there’s enough commonality for a sexy song to be created about this comparison. If I’m lucky, a song that moves people enough to move– both their bodies and their dollar bills– into my tip jar ;)

Remember that rare gem, Ruth Brown? She takes it to another level in “If I can’t sell it, I’ll sit on it”… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPll4sQDssU
