Lorin Atzen featuring Laura Ivancie- Winter
I met Lorin Atzen when I was singing with DJ Levy at a dance club in Portland on Halloween 2010. Months later, Lorin contacted me with a track that he said he produced just for me, entitled “Winter.” I loved the song so much that the lyrics just flowed out of me, making our first collaboration together really encouraging. Thank you Lorin, I look forward to working with you again soon.
When I feel like I’ve written a good song (lyrically) over another artist’s production, I often like to adapt the original version into an alternate acoustic version for my live band shows. Keep your ears open for the alternate, similar version of “Winter” which I’ve renamed, “Roller Coaster.”
I am learning that different instruments and sounds often bring out entirely different thoughts and vocal deliveries within me, depending on the genre. For example, it seems that my “higher self” tends to speak more in electronic collaborations versus songs I write on my guitar… which is strange… and exciting…
